Al-Halbousi Highlights Iraq’s Religious and Societal Diversity as a Strength for National Unity


Baghdad: Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi affirmed that the religious and social diversity that characterizes Iraq represents a fundamental pillar of its national identity and a source of strength for its unity and cohesion.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from al-Halbousi’s office indicated that he received Sheikh Sattar Jabbar al-Hilu, the head of the Mandaean Sabean community in Iraq and the world, on Thursday. During the meeting, they discussed various issues concerning the conditions of the Mandaean Sabean community and their most pressing needs.



The Speaker of Parliament reiterated that the religious and social diversity in Iraq is a crucial component of the country’s identity, emphasizing his support for the rights of the Mandaean Sabeans as an integral part of Iraqi society. Al-Halbousi directed that the needs of the community be addressed with the relevant authorities and that efforts be made to overcome the obstacles they face.
