Baghdad: German national team coach Jrgen Klopp announced on Thursday an expanded squad of 44 players for his first training camp since taking over the reins this summer. Klopp has strategically divided the squad into two separate teams to prepare for Germany’s upcoming four UEFA Nations League matches.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the first group will compete in matches against the Netherlands, scheduled to take place in Amsterdam on September 24, and Greece in Germany on September 27. This group includes notable players such as goalkeepers Finn Dahmen, Alexander Nbel, and Marc-André ter Stegen. Defenders in this lineup consist of Hennes Piszczek, Jan-Aurel Pesc, and others. The midfield is strengthened by players like Nadiem Amiri, Serge Gnabry, and Joshua Kimmich, with forwards Younes Bentaleb and Kai Havertz leading the attack.

The second group is set to face Serbia in Munich on October 1 and Greece in Thessaloniki on October 4. This group features goalkeepers Noah Atopulo and Jonas Orbis, w
ith defenders including Waldemar Anton and Riedel Baku. Midfield talents such as Karim Adeyemi and Florian Wirtz are also part of this lineup, while Jonathan Burkardt and Nick Folltemade will handle forward duties.

This selection marks Klopp’s first major squad announcement since becoming the head coach, showcasing a blend of experienced players and emerging talents to strengthen Germany’s performance in the UEFA Nations League.
