London: Arsenal and Liverpool qualified for the fourth round of the English Football League Cup after defeating Ipswich Town (4-2) and Tottenham Hotspur (3-1) respectively on Tuesday evening, in the third round matches.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in the first match, Arsenal overcame their hosts, Ipswich Town, with a score of four goals to two. Arsenal owes its victory to its young player, Max Duman (16 years old), who scored two goals in the 7th and 47th minutes, and provided an assist for his Spanish teammate, Mikel Merino, in the 58th minute. Noni Madueke had scored the second goal in the 16th minute. Ipswich Town’s goals were scored by Albanian Anis Mehmedi and Chuba Akpom in the 62nd and 90+1 minutes, respectively.

In the second match, Liverpool defeated their visitors, Tottenham Hotspur, 3-1 in the match held at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool. Liverpool finished the first half with a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal from Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister in the 21st minute. They then extended their lead with a second goal from Dutchman Cody Gakpo in the 54th minute. Tottenham pulled one back through Conor Gallagher in the 69th minute. Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai completed Liverpool’s scoring in the first minute of stoppage time (90+1), deepening Tottenham’s woes as they failed to score in their first four Premier League matches.

Three other matches were played on Tuesday evening in the third round, with Fulham advancing to the fourth round after defeating West Ham United 3-2 in a London derby. Brazilian Rodrigo Muniz, Spaniard Cesar Palacios, and Norwegian Oscar Popp scored for Fulham in the 13th, 37th, and 78th minutes, respectively, while Brazilians Felipe Morato and Pablo Felipe scored for West Ham in the 16th and 45+1 minutes.

Peterborough United also advanced to the fourth round after defeating Barnsley 7-6 on penalties, following a 3-3 draw in regulation time. Cameron Mesgehan (2) and Reece Cleary (40, 74) scored for Barnsley, while Harry Leonard (19) and Danny Ormerod (27, 88) netted for Peterborough United.

Finally, Brentford progressed to the fourth round with a 2-1 victory over Reading, another League Two side. Callum Wilson and Fabio Carvalho scored for Brentford in the 3rd and 45+1 minutes, respectively, while Buddy O’Connor scored Reading’s lone goal in the 72nd minute.
