House of Wisdom and National Library Explore Cooperation Prospects


Baghdad: The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the House of Wisdom, Naeem Al-Aboudi, met with Bariq Raad Alawi, the Director General of the National Library and Archives, to discuss potential avenues for joint cooperation. The meeting aimed to explore ways in which the two institutions could collaborate on scientific and cultural activities, share expertise in document and manuscript preservation, and enhance digital library resources.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a press release from the House of Wisdom revealed that Al-Aboudi’s visit to the National Library and Archives included discussions on how the two institutions could work together more closely. This collaboration would focus on organizing joint events and sharing knowledge in the preservation of important documents and manuscripts.



The Director General of the National Library and Archives, Bariq Raad Alawi, highlighted the institution’s commitments to providing both print and digital resources to Iraqi researchers. Alawi described how the library archives Iraqi titles and publications, ensuring they are accessible by assigning deposit numbers to these works, whether printed domestically or internationally.



Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, representing the House of Wisdom, commended the National Library and Archives for its efforts in supporting the literary and cultural heritage of Iraq. He emphasized the importance of maintaining and promoting the national archive, which serves as a vital component of Iraq’s cultural and intellectual legacy.
