Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed on Friday that efforts are underway to construct a pipeline to transport gas and oil from Iraq to the European market.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Macron stated in a press release that France is collaborating with Iraq and Jordan to establish this pipeline. The initiative aims to accelerate gas storage projects in Europe, thereby alleviating the burden of energy prices and providing alternatives for the continent.

Macron highlighted that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East is worsening the energy crisis, which in turn is increasing the suffering of citizens due to rising gasoline and fuel prices. He emphasized that this energy crisis is a continental issue, not just a French one.

Furthermore, Macron addressed the impact of the conflict that led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Although France is not involved in the conflict, it is experiencing its repercussions. France has participated in an international mission to ensure the safe passage of oil tankers through the strait. Additionally, Macron called for a diplomatic resolution to guarantee the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
