Iraqi Airways to Resume Flights to Iran in October

Najaf:Iraqi Airways has announced the resumption of flights to and from Iran, set to begin in October, operating from Najaf Al-Ashraf Airport.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the decision comes as part of the Iraqi government’s efforts to enhance bilateral relations and secure air transport routes. This initiative follows direct directives from Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi and close oversight by Minister of Transport Wahb Al-Hasani, resulting in a special exemption for Iraqi Airways to resume operations to Iran.

The airline’s staff is actively working to prepare the aircraft and complete the necessary requirements to organize the flights. Operations will begin once all regulatory requirements are satisfied. This development comes after Iranian airlines suspended flights to Iraq on September 23, and Iraqi Airways had halted flights to Iran in early March due to military escalation concerns, prioritizing the safety of passengers and flights.

Iraqi Airways confirmed that flights will resume once all regulatory and technical standards are met, ensuring compliance with approved operations standards.
