Iraq’s Position as South Korea’s Sixth-Largest Oil Supplier in August 2026


Seoul:Iraq was the sixth-largest supplier of crude oil to South Korea in August 2026, with shipments exceeding 3.8 million barrels.

According to the National Iraqi News Agency, official South Korean data revealed that Iraq supplied approximately 3.826 million barrels of crude oil to South Korea in August 2026. This represented a substantial decrease of 65.5% compared to the 11.105 million barrels imported during the same month in 2025. Notably, South Korea did not import any Iraqi crude oil in July 2026.

Overall, South Korea’s crude oil imports in August 2026 totaled 91.335 million barrels, marking a 2.2% decline from August 2025 and a 2% decrease from July 2026. Saudi Arabia emerged as the top supplier, providing 21.669 million barrels, followed by the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Oman.

The data highlights a significant reduction in Iraq’s share of the South Korean crude oil market, with a year-on-year decrease of approximately 7.279 million barrels.
