Trump Considers New Attacks on Iran as Possible

Washington:US President Donald Trump has confirmed that launching new attacks on Iran remains a possibility.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Trump told Time magazine that Iran is facing significant economic challenges, and he believes the Iranians want to negotiate a deal. However, Trump emphasized his interest in securing a “real deal.”

He rejected a recent Iranian ceasefire proposal, stating that what he turned down a year ago remains unacceptable. Trump acknowledged that Iran had proposed opening the Strait of Hormuz, but after reviewing some parts of the offer, he found it inadequate.

Trump mentioned the potential for resuming attacks on Iran after the US midterm elections. He highlighted that the United States has a substantial amount of weaponry and is in a strong position, currently stockpiling arms to share with allies.

He dismissed reports of a shortage of US munitions as largely false, noting that the United States recently moved the largest volume of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, surpassing previous records.

Trump asserted that the United States has closed the Strait of Hormuz to Iran and now controls it.
