US State Department Backs Iraqi Prime Minister’s Sovereignty Efforts


Washington:The US State Department has announced its support for Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi’s initiatives to reinforce the country’s sovereignty.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, US State Department Spokesperson Tommy Pigott stated that the United States successfully completed the withdrawal of its forces from Iraq by September 30. This move was fully in line with the timeline agreed upon with the Iraqi federal government.



Pigott explained that the withdrawal signifies the enhanced capabilities of the Iraqi security forces and the Peshmerga forces in the Kurdistan Region. It also marks a significant new chapter in the bilateral relationship between Iraq and the United States.



The spokesperson underscored the US commitment to developing a strong security and economic partnership with the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government. He reiterated US support for Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi’s efforts to strengthen and maintain Iraqi sovereignty as Iraq progresses toward a new path within a full partnership with the United States.
