Baghdad:Head of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, engaged in discussions with Iranian Ambassador to Iraq, Mohammad Kazem Al Sadeq, focusing on bilateral relations and regional developments. A significant part of the dialogue was dedicated to addressing the consequences of the halted air traffic between Iraq and Iran.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussions explored opportunities for enhancing cooperation between the two nations across various sectors. The meeting also highlighted concerns over the U.S. Treasury Department’s sanctions on Iranian airlines, particularly their effects on Iraqi patients and students residing in Iran.
Al-Sudani emphasized Iraq’s dedication to strengthening ties with Iran and other regional countries, advocating for continuous dialogue and de-escalation in the current crisis. He underscored the importance of economic integration as a means to bolster regional security and stability.
The Iranian ambassador praised Iraq’s efforts in fostering regional dialogue and bringing different perspectives closer together, noting the country’s progress in achieving political and security stability.
