Baghdad:Ammar al-Hakim, head of the National State Forces Alliance, engaged in discussions with former Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu regarding the latest political developments in the region. They also addressed bilateral relations between Iraq and Turkey, focusing on ways to activate existing agreements for the mutual benefit of their countries and neighboring peoples.
According to the National Iraqi News Agency, al-Hakim highlighted the significance of Turkey as a major regional player and emphasized the role of major powers in reducing tensions and restoring stability in the region.
Al-Hakim noted that Iraq’s current diplomatic approach has evolved following the achievement of full sovereignty, marked by the conclusion of the international coalition’s mission against ISIS. He views this development as a sign of Iraq’s recovery and affirmed the country’s openness to engaging with its regional and international environment.
Additionally, al-Hakim reiterated Iraq’s commitment to resolving the issue of weapons outside state control. He commended efforts to combat ISIS terrorism and underscored that addressing the proliferation of weapons beyond government authority is essential.
