Iraq Prepares for Significant OIC Foreign Ministers’ Conference


Baghdad:Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein has emphasized the importance of the upcoming Conference of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states as an opportunity to showcase the current reality in Iraq to international guests.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Hussein chaired a meeting on Monday to discuss the preparations for Iraq hosting the 52nd session of the OIC Foreign Ministers’ Conference. He highlighted the significance of the event at both regional and international levels, particularly as Iraq assumes the conference presidency.



Shorsh Khalid Saeed, Undersecretary for Multilateral and Legal Affairs, detailed the committee’s efforts in logistical and technical preparations for welcoming official delegations. He underscored the importance of the official conference platform and the cooperation with various government bodies.



The committee, in coordination with ministry undersecretaries and political departments, has drafted the “Baghdad Declaration.” They have also completed a guidebook for delegates, finalized media center procedures, and prepared the main conference hall.



Attendees at the meeting included Lieutenant General Hadi Ruzaij Kassar, head of the Security Committee; the Director General of Personal Protection; representatives from the Protocol Department; Ambassador Hassanein Kamil; and media representatives.
