Jakarta:The Iraqi Al-Asas Coalition has expressed its complete support for the government’s initiatives to implement effective economic measures.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the coalition emphasized the necessity of these actions to prevent the financial collapse of the country. They highlighted the importance of controlling speculation networks and currency mafias as part of these measures.
The statement from the coalition noted that while adjusting the exchange rate was not the government’s preferred choice, it is considered the least detrimental option under the current circumstances. This decision aims to minimize the impact on public-sector employees, retirees, social welfare beneficiaries, farmers, contractors, and other social groups.
The coalition pointed out that the current economic challenges necessitate support from all national forces for the government’s decisions, which are influenced by factors like the prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz and halted oil exports.
Furthermore, the Al-Asas Coalition urged all political entities to cooperate with the prime minister. They stressed the importance of proposed efforts, such as establishing a Generations Fund for project financing, combating currency speculators and corruption, recovering illicit funds, ensuring salary payments, covering essential state expenditures, and distributing food rations to those in need.
They also advocated for effective market monitoring to mitigate the effects of exchange-rate fluctuations on the populace.
