Turkey Expresses Strong Support for Saudi Arabia After Houthi Attacks on Airports

Ankara:Turkey has expressed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia following attacks by the Yemeni Houthi group on Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned the attacks in strong terms, offering condolences to the victims’ families and wishing the injured a swift recovery. The Ministry called for an immediate cessation of attacks on civilians and infrastructure, emphasizing their role in escalating regional tensions.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry reiterated Turkey’s support for Saudi Arabia and urged for the resolution of disputes through dialogue and diplomatic channels.

Saudi Arabia reported three citizen fatalities and additional injuries from the two attacks on Thursday. Earlier attacks on the same airports had resulted in the deaths of three foreign residents and injuries to 36 individuals. These incidents are part of a military escalation since July 2026, following a period of relative calm after a 2022 truce.

Yemen’s conflict began in September 2014 when the Houthis took control of Sanaa and other areas, leading to a Saudi-led coalition intervention in March 2015 to support the Yemeni government.
