PM’s Directive to Focus on High-Impact Economic Projects

Tunis:Investment Commission Head Adel Al-Yasiri confirmed that Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi has instructed a focus on high-impact projects beneficial to the national economy. Payments for residential units in Iraqi dinars will remain unaffected by fluctuations in the dollar exchange rate within the federal budget.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Yasiri emphasized the Commission’s commitment to improving service delivery to citizens and executing high-quality projects that enhance public services and economic benefits. The Commission aims to protect citizens from any potential negative impacts of exchange rate changes, specifically concerning payments for residential units in investment complexes.

Al-Yasiri explained that residential unit purchase contracts are available in two formats one in dollars and another in Iraqi dinars. The Commission has resolved to uphold the contract prices in dinars as stipulated in the original agreements, without modification, and plans to discuss this decision with the Prime Minister to ensure its implementation.

Regarding the Bismayah residential project, Al-Yasiri announced that issues related to citizens’ payments and organizational matters with the Korean contractor Hanwha have been settled. The company will soon receive a $111 million payment as the first installment of its dues, with a second installment scheduled six months later for the 30,000 residential units. The Commission is also preparing a comprehensive investment dossier for the 600,000 residential units in the Bismayah complex.
