Baku:The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has announced that Iraq is expected to lead Arab nations in economic performance for the year 2027.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the IMF’s projections indicate a significant shift in the economic performance of Arab economies between 2026 and 2027.
The IMF noted that Arab oil-exporting nations faced a substantial contraction in 2026 due to disruptions in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and a decline in oil supplies, which placed pressure on several Gulf and Arab economies.
The Fund projects a recovery for most Arab economies in 2027 as oil exports return to normal and security conditions improve. Iraq is anticipated to top the list with a projected growth rate of 19%, marking the highest among Arab nations.
