Haibat al-Halbousi Commits to Supporting Government Post-Cabinet Completion

Baghdad:Speaker of the House of Representatives, Haibat al-Halbousi, has expressed strong support for the newly completed Cabinet, emphasizing that the Parliament will act as a significant pillar of support for the government.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Halbousi stated that this period requires a swift shift from forming the government to active participation in work and achieving goals that align with the aspirations of the Iraqi people. He stressed the importance of delivering quality services, stability, and development.

Al-Halbousi reiterated the commitment of the House of Representatives to back the government in all matters that benefit Iraq and its citizens. He assured that legislative powers would be utilized to eliminate barriers hindering the government’s work and to ensure the success of its agenda. Al-Halbousi made it clear that governmental success equates to the state’s success, and meeting citizens’ expectations is a shared national duty, leaving no room for political disputes.

He further clarified that supporting the government does not absolve Parliament from its constitutional duty of oversight and accountability. He emphasized that the House would monitor government performance and hold those accountable who do not meet expectations. The House will not allow responsibilities to become mere titles without achievement, nor will it let citizens’ rights be trapped by unfulfilled promises and delays.

Al-Halbousi concluded by stating that while the House of Representatives will not hinder the government, it will also not protect failures. He affirmed the commitment to support decisions that benefit the people and to exercise oversight over any shortcomings. As the formation phase ends, the focus shifts to action, with tangible achievements for the Iraqi people as the ultimate measure of success.
