Kirkuk: The General Directorate of Intelligence and Security at the Ministry of Defense announced the arrest of a dangerous ISIS member who held positions within the terrorist group in Kirkuk Governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Directorate stated in a press release: “In a proactive and high-level intelligence operation, the Special Intelligence Missions Cell of the General Directorate of Intelligence and Security at the Ministry of Defense apprehended a dangerous member of the ISIS terrorist group in Kirkuk Governorate. An arrest warrant had been issued against him under Article (4) of the Counter-Terrorism Law.”

The statement added: “The accused worked for the ISIS terrorist group as the head of a detachment in southern Baghdad and the head of the so-called Al-Baraa sector in Babil Governorate. He also oversaw the transfer of terrorist elements from a neighboring country to Wadi Houran. The arrest was carried out in coordination with a force from the Kirkuk Intelligence and Security Directorate and the Sulaymaniyah Counter-Terrorism Service. All legal procedures have been taken against him, and he has been referred for investigation.”
