A Large-Scale Security Operation Launched to Track Down ISIS Remnants South of Mosul

Baghdad The Popular Mobilization Commission announced the launch of a joint security operation with the army south of Mosul.

The commission said in a statement: “The Nineveh Operations Command of the Popular Mobilization and the army embarked today, Sunday, a wide security operation to search several villages south of the city of Mosul.”

It added: “The units of the Nineveh Operations Command for the popular Mobilization, represented by the Operations and Intelligence Departments, the Special Missions Regiment, the First Regiment of the 33rd Brigade, the 11th and 14th regiments of the 59th Brigade of the Popular Mobilization , the Office of Intelligence and Information Department, the Directorate of Medicine, Combating Explosives, Fighting Armor and the Engineering Effort in the Popular Mobilization, under the supervision of the Director of Operations Command Ahmed al-Asadi, began an operation Security forces from four axes to search and secure the villages of Al-Ibrahimiya, Al-Hussainiya, Al-Mazmalat and Tal Al-Rayan, south of the city of Mosul.

It continued, “The Iraqi army units from the 16th Division and the Nineveh Police emergency regiments participated in the operation.”

It explained, that the operation comes within the strategic plans to pursue ISIS remnants, destroy its hideouts, and secure the sectors of responsibility in order to preserve the security of citizens.
