Mogadishu: A military helicopter belonging to the African Union Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) crashed near Adem Adde International Airport in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, and a loud explosion was heard throughout the capital.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, initial information regarding the helicopter’s nationality was conflicting. Some reports suggested it was Ugandan, while others suggested it was an American military aircraft.

Senior Somali police officials reported that the accident resulted in casualties, including dead and wounded, but the exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed.
