Hillah: A young man killed his mother by pouring gasoline on her and setting her on fire inside their home in the village of Nakhila, near Hillah, on Thursday evening while under the influence of alcohol.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Babil Police Media Director, Colonel Ammar al-Shammari, stated that the tragic incident followed an argument between the mother and son. The young man, who was inebriated at the time, resorted to this extreme act of violence.

Colonel al-Shammari revealed that the young man has a criminal record and has previously been imprisoned for various crimes. Following the incident, he was apprehended by the police. The shocking nature of the crime has left the local community in disbelief, prompting discussions on the influence of alcohol and prior criminal behavior.
