Baghdad: The Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Holy Abbasid Shrine engaged in discussions with the Foreign Service Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on enhancing collaboration in cataloging, classification, archiving, and digitization.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Hassanein Al-Moussawi, Director of the Cataloging and Information Systems Center at the department, revealed that the discussions were initiated following an invitation from Ambassador Mohammed Abdullah Al-Shammari, Dean of the Foreign Service Institute. The visit included a tour of the ministry’s library and the institute’s paper archive.

Al-Moussawi noted that the visit involved reviewing the paper archive’s contents and the processes for document preservation and organization. He emphasized the potential benefits of leveraging the scientific and practical expertise of the Cataloging and Information Systems Center in enhancing cataloging, classification, archiving, and digitization efforts.

The discussions aim to facilitate the exchange of specialized expertise and experiences between the Abbasid Shrine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This collaboration is intended to improve library and archive management methods and enhance the preservation, organization, and accessibility of information resources using modern techniques.
