Baghdad / NINA / – The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, expressed his hope for a solution to the contentious issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government.
A statement by the region’s Prime Ministers stated: The President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, met in the city of Erbil today, Thursday, with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.
Guterres praised, according to the statement, the progress and prosperity the Kurdistan region is witnessing, saying: The Kurdistan region has a special place in my heart, and the struggles and sacrifices of the people of Kurdistan will not be forgotten, and I hope that Kurdistan will always remain strong and united.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations expressed his hope to reach a solution regarding contentious issues between the region and the federal government.
The Prime Minister expressed his thanks and appreciation to the United Nations for its support and assistance, especially through the active role played by the UNAMI mission in Iraq and the Kurdistan region, stressing the importance of finding a radical solution to the problems between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government in cooperation with the United Nations and the international community. / End
