Baghdad: Iraqi Airways announced today, Tuesday, that it has opened an investigation into the emergency landing of a flight from Istanbul. In a statement, Iraqi Airways confirmed that there was no technical defect related to the flight from Istanbul Airport to Najaf Airport on Tuesday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the statement added, "The company's management has ordered an investigation to determine the reasons for landing at Baghdad Airport instead of Najaf Airport."

Baghdad International Airport witnessed an emergency landing today, Tuesday, of Iraqi Airways flight IAW220 (Istanbul - Najaf).
