Baghdad: Government Spokesperson Haider Al-Aboudi noted that security and air defense technology are at the top of the Memoranda of Understanding signed with France. “The six MOUs signed in Paris stem from the government’s vision to translate cooperation with France into tangible, systematic action, serving the mutual interests of both friendly nations across economic, security, and investment spheres,” Al-Aboudi stated, speaking to Al-Iraqiya News TV, reported by the Iraqi News Agency – INA.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Aboudi added that “security and defense technology, particularly air defense, took precedence in these MOUs. This reflects Iraq’s commitment to finalizing its defense capabilities ahead of the September 30 deadline, building upon long-standing historical ties with Paris and contracts concluded previously.”

Regarding reports of an upcoming visit to Baghdad by French President Emmanuel Macron, Al-Aboudi clarified that “Iraq welcomes, in principle, a visit by the French President as well as visits by leaders of all fraternal and friendly nations.”

‘These details, alongside other sovereign, economic, and security issues, will be on the agenda during the dinner meeting between the Prime Minister and President Macron. This underscores Baghdad’s approach to consolidating its sovereignty and forging effective international partnerships that fulfill the goals of the government’s program,” he highlighted.
