Baghdad: Government Spokesperson Haider al-Aboudi affirmed that the first 100 days of Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi’s government mark the beginning of a clearer path to consolidating state sovereignty. He noted that since gaining the confidence of the Council of Representatives and its national political forces on May 14, 2026, the government has been working to implement its sovereign priorities through sound executive processes and is providing precise solutions to national issues according to the principles of a state that safeguards Iraq’s interests and responds to the needs of its citizens.
According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Aboudi stated, “after 100 days and fifteen cabinet meetings, the government has been committed from day one to ensuring that its performance is measured by its responsibility in decision-making, its consolidation of state sovereignty, its protection of national decisions from external dictates, and its strengthening of Iraq’s foreign relations based on mutual interests.”
He added, “We affirm our commitment to building a state that protects its citizens, addresses inherited and emerging challenges, and continues institutional and economic reforms that directly ensure a dignified life for the Iraqi people and prevent threats to public treasury revenues.”
He noted that “the government looks forward to September 30th as a pivotal moment in completing the path to national sovereignty, so that Iraq, in its decisions, security, and territory, will be a fully sovereign state, not subject to the will of any external force, and where no instruments of power remain outside the authority of the state.”
