Al ain: Al Ain, UAE, is rapidly becoming a sought-after location for filming both Arab and international movies. The Abu Dhabi Film Commission, a division of the Creative Media Authority, recently announced its backing for the latest Arab production, the action-comedy film “Saqr wa Kanaria” (Falcon and Canary), featuring stars Mohamed Adel Imam, Chico, and Khaled El Sawy.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, “Saqr wa Kanaria” marks the second major film production in recent months to capitalize on Al Ain’s diverse filming locations, signaling the city’s rising prominence in the film and television industry. The production utilized iconic sites such as Jebel Hafeet, Al Khatim Desert, and Al Mubazzarah Green Park. A notable highlight was the construction of a set designed to emulate a high-security facility, which stands as one of the largest ever built for an Arab film.

Samir Al Jabri, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, stated, “This production reflects the growing interest in Abu Dhabi and the Al Ain region as preferred filming destinations for international directors and production companies.” This trend is further supported by the Creative Media Authority’s strategic partnership agreement signed in 2025 with SH Films and Cinema, which aims to film various movies, series, and commercials in Abu Dhabi. A key stipulation of this agreement ensures that 50 percent of the crews for these productions will consist of independent talents registered with the Authority and residing in the UAE.
