Baghdad: The head of the “Nabni” coalition, Hadi Al-Amiri, has confirmed that there is a political and parliamentary consensus to pass four controversial laws in the House of Representatives. Al-Amiri emphasized that there would be no compromises in the process of passing these laws, which are deemed crucial for the legislative agenda.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Amiri stated that these four significant laws are currently under consideration in the House of Representatives. He expressed hope that the Speaker of Parliament and his deputies would accomplish the passage of these laws within the remaining period of the current legislative session. The laws include the draft amendment to the general amnesty law, the proposed personal status law, the draft law on military service and retirement for the Mujahideen of the Popular Mobilization Forces, and the draft law aimed at returning properties seized by the dissolved Revolutionary Command Council to their rightful owners.

Al-Amiri clarified that
there are agreements in place to advance these legislative measures, with no room for bargaining over ministries, undersecretaries, or governmental bodies in exchange for their passage. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening the oversight role of the House of Representatives and activating interrogation files. In light of the current regional circumstances and the ongoing war, Al-Amiri stressed the collective responsibility to support the government’s work and avoid actions that could disrupt its ministerial program.
