Baghdad: National Security Adviser Qassem Al-Araji held discussions with the head of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar Al-Hakim, focusing on the country’s security situation and strategies to enhance the security system to address current challenges.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting involved a comprehensive review of recent developments in the security sector, highlighting the importance of bolstering the capabilities of the security apparatus to tackle rising challenges and align with both regional and international dynamics. During the meeting, Al-Araji shared insights from his recent visit to the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing the necessity of ongoing dialogue to resolve outstanding issues based on the constitution, applicable laws, and the nation’s supreme interests.

The discussions underscored that achieving security stability is fundamental to attaining social and economic stability. Both leaders pointed out that the forthcoming elections are a crucial point for securing this stability and advancing towards sustainable security. In their dialogue, both leaders praised the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) for their decision to lay down arms and join the political process. They urged that this opportunity be utilized to fortify Iraq’s security and protect its sovereignty.
