Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh stressed on Wednesday that dialogue and diplomacy are the optimal path to resolving outstanding issues in the region and the world.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the office of the National Security Advisor issued a statement noting that al-Araji received Khatibzadeh and his accompanying delegation in Baghdad. The discussions between the two sides focused on bilateral relations between Iraq and Iran and explored ways to enhance them across various fields.

The statement highlighted that the talks also addressed recent regional developments, efforts to consolidate stability, and avoid conflicts, alongside several issues of common interest. Both parties affirmed that dialogue and diplomacy are essential for addressing crises.

Al-Araji commended the political approach adopted by Tehran, emphasizing that it strengthens opportunities for dialogue and facilitates diplomatic solutions to regional challenges. Khatibzadeh, on his part, reiterated Iran’s support for the Iraqi government’s initiatives to enhance security, stability, and economic development.

Furthermore, the statement mentioned that both sides collectively condemned the ongoing killings, starvation, and acts of genocide in Gaza. They stressed that such actions violate international law and necessitate a decisive and serious response from the international community.
