Baghdad: National Security Adviser Qasim Al-Araji and the Swedish Embassy’s Charg© d’Affaires in Baghdad have emphasized the critical need to reopen the Swedish Embassy in Baghdad. This move is aimed at reinforcing bilateral relations between Iraq and Sweden, as both nations seek to bolster their diplomatic and cooperative ties.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Araji’s media office released a statement highlighting that Al-Araji met with Jorgen Lindstr¶m, the Swedish Charg© d’Affaires, alongside Anders Vipari, the Head of the European Union Advisory Mission in Iraq. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation and fostering friendship between Iraq and Sweden across multiple sectors to further the mutual interests of both countries.

The statement also noted that the meeting covered discussions on regional security developments, with particular attention to the situation in Syria. Both sides reiterated the importance of reopening the Swedish Embassy in Baghdad to strengthen the principles of friendship and partnership between Iraq and Sweden.
