Al-Araji and Syrian Shiite Leader Discuss Unified Religious Discourse Amid Regional Challenges


Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji met with Sheikh Adham al-Khatib, the Deputy Head of the Shiite Community in Syria, to discuss strategies for strengthening a unified religious discourse amidst ongoing regional challenges.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on recent developments in the region and explored methods to enhance the unified religious narrative to address these challenges. Both leaders emphasized the importance of fostering brotherhood, genuine citizenship, and a robust sense of national belonging.



Al-Araji highlighted the critical role that religious leaders and community figures play in unifying religious discourse and countering extremism through moderate and responsible communication. He stressed the necessity for unity and prioritizing national interests during the current times.



He also noted the profound ties of Arabism, brotherhood, and shared history between the Syrian and Iraqi people, underscoring the need to support Syrian unity and stability, and to promote social peace among all communities.



Sheikh Al-Khatib reiterated the importance of a unified, moderate national discourse that avoids inciting division. He stressed supporting state institutions and preserving the unity and stability of the Syrian people to ensure a secure future for Syria and its citizens.
