Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji engaged in discussions with the Turkish Ambassador to Baghdad, Anil Bora Inan, focusing on the water issue and the implementation of agreements between Iraq and Turkey.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the advisory statement revealed that Al-Araji hosted the Turkish Ambassador and his delegation in his office, where they deliberated on various mutual concerns and files aimed at enhancing strategic relations. Key topics included the ongoing water issue and the execution of framework agreements established between the two nations.

The statement further highlighted discussions on joint security cooperation, particularly in combating terrorism and managing border control. Al-Araji expressed the Iraqi government’s support, under the leadership of the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for the agreement between Turkey and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the PKK’s decision to disarm. He emphasized Iraq’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Turkey across multiple fronts.

In his remarks, the Turkish Ambassador reaffirmed Turkey’s decision to augment water flows into Iraq, aligning with international agreements and UN resolutions.
