Al-Araji Calls for Dismantlement of Camps in Northeast Syria


Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji has emphasized the urgency of dismantling all camps situated in northeastern Syria.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the National Security Advisory released a statement following a meeting between al-Araji and the Italian Ambassador to Baghdad, Nicol² Fontana. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations between Iraq and Italy in ways that benefit mutual interests and bolster cooperation on various levels.



Al-Araji extended New Year greetings to Ambassador Fontana, expressing hopes for global peace. He reiterated Iraq’s commitment to reducing regional tensions through balanced international relations and a diplomatic approach. Al-Araji highlighted the imperative of dismantling camps in northeastern Syria, specifically mentioning al-Hol camp.



Ambassador Fontana congratulated Iraq on its successful parliamentary elections and expressed Italy’s eagerness to strengthen cooperative ties. He acknowledged Iraq’s pivotal role in regional tension reduction, which he said augments Iraq’s international stature.
