Al-Araji Engages in Strategic Security Talks with British Military Commander

Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji engaged in discussions with Lieutenant General Edward Ahlgren, the Senior Advisor to the British Ministry of Defense for Middle East Affairs, and his accompanying delegation. The British Ambassador to Baghdad was also present during the meeting.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between Iraq and the United Kingdom in security-related fields, specifically aiming to boost the capabilities of the Iraqi armed forces in border security, cybersecurity, and counter-narcotics.

The dialogue also touched on regional security developments and the challenges currently faced by the Middle East. Both sides emphasized that the ongoing killing and starvation of the Palestinian people constitute violations of human rights and international norms.

Al-Araji highlighted the proactive efforts of the Iraqi government, led by the Prime Minister, in coordinating with global leaders to prevent regional conflicts from escalating. He stressed that Iraq strongly supports diplomacy and dialogue as the sole means for resolving international disputes.

Lieutenant General Ahlgren commended the Iraqi government for its adept management of the security situation and its success in preventing Iraq from becoming a battleground amid regional tensions.

Both parties reiterated their commitment to strengthening strategic relations between Iraq and the United Kingdom and expressed their intent to sign joint security memoranda of understanding in the future.
