Baghdad: Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ahmed Al-Asadi praised the efforts of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Country Coordinator in Iraq, Dr. Maha Kattaa, as he affirmed Iraq’s readiness to continue cooperation and reforms.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement by the Ministry of Labor highlighted that Al-Asadi received Maha Kattaa to mark the conclusion of her term and her new role as Senior Technical Advisor in the “Afaq” Regional Program of the Regional Office for Arab States in Beirut. This program covers Iraq, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon.
Al-Asadi acknowledged the supportive positions of the ILO towards Iraq and mentioned that the Ministry has achieved results within the Decent Work Program in collaboration with the organization. He emphasized Iraq’s ongoing need for reforms in several programs and the Ministry’s commitment to support and cooperate in achieving these reforms.
Dr. Maha Kattaa expressed her gratitude to the Minister and the Ministry’s staff for their cooperation during her tenure as Iraq Office Director. She noted that Iraq stands as a success story in implementing strategies and programs with the International Labor Organization, highlighting the Ministry’s support as crucial for promoting decent work in the country.
