Baghdad: MP Ahmed al-Asadi, head of the Sumerian Alliance, has addressed the ongoing controversy regarding allegations of corruption and legal violations, asserting that there is no judicial warrant for his arrest and that the funds in question are legitimate and properly documented.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Asadi released an audio recording early Tuesday morning to clarify the situation. In the recording, he explained that while he was on a medical trip outside Iraq, actions by an associate led to suspicions of legal violations. Al-Asadi emphasized that the relevant authorities and judiciary have taken all necessary legal measures in response to these suspicions.

Al-Asadi stated that despite the smear and misinformation campaigns that have circulated, he chose to remain silent out of respect for the ongoing investigation. He has fully opened his offices and residences to the authorities and expressed confidence that the legal process will ultimately reveal the truth and dispel any rumors.

In response to comments from another MP regarding a potential arrest, al-Asadi clarified that he is not wanted by the justice system and that no arrest warrant exists against him without the judiciary’s legal procedures. He further noted that the money discovered is significantly less than what has been rumored and is fully legitimate, supported by official documents verifying its legality.
