Baghdad: Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Farhad Amin Atroushi, expressed his pride and honor in commemorating the first session of the Iraqi Parliament on July 16, 1925. This session, held within the framework of the National Assembly, laid the foundation for representing the people and the national will, and solidified the Iraqi constitution at that time. The parliament consisted of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, together forming the first elected parliamentary system in Iraq's history.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Atroushi noted that "this day reflects the depth of the Iraqi political experience," emphasizing the clear and influential presence of the Kurds within it. He added that commemorating this occasion serves as an impetus to strengthen national partnership, uphold democracy and the rule of law, and build a unified, secure, and prosperous Iraq.
