Baghdad: Deputy Speaker of Parliament Farhad Al-Atrushi affirmed that unifying the Peshmerga forces under a single umbrella serves the national defense system in a vital part of the country.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from Al-Atrushi’s media office highlighted his support for the announced executive steps to unite the Peshmerga forces. This initiative is seen as a key element in organizing military efforts and security arrangements within the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, thereby bolstering the national defense system.

Al-Atrushi emphasized that moving forward with the unification of these forces marks a significant shift towards enhancing security and sustainable stability in both Kurdistan and the broader national landscape. This unification is also expected to elevate the level of coordination between federal forces and the Region’s forces, addressing shared security challenges and ensuring the protection of citizens.
