Basra: The Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Hussein Al-Awadi, has underscored that ensuring the security, stability, and safety of visitors in Basra is a top priority and a red line that cannot be compromised.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Ministry of Interior detailed that Al-Awadi chaired an expanded security meeting at the provincial police headquarters. The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary for Police Affairs, the Basra Operations Commander, several ministry leaders, the police chief, security commanders, and directors of specialized departments within the Ministry of Interior in the province.
At the outset of the meeting, Al-Awadi was briefed by the Basra Police Chief on the current security and preemptive plans, the level of readiness, and preparations for the upcoming Arba'een pilgrimage. The Undersecretary emphasized the importance of elevating preparedness to its highest level, intensifying intelligence and field efforts, and enhancing coordination among all security formations. He reiterated that the security and stability of Basra and the safety of the pilgrims are paramount and must not be compromised.
Al-Awadi further instructed that all obstacles and difficulties should be promptly addressed to ensure the success of the security and service plan for the Arba'een pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). He highlighted the need to achieve the highest levels of performance and readiness to serve the pilgrims and maintain security and stability in the province.
