Baghdad: The head of the Iraqi National Security Service, Basim al-Badri, convened a high-level security meeting to deliberate on the agency’s security and intelligence strategy aimed at securing the Arba’een pilgrimage to the shrine of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the National Security Media Office released a statement highlighting that the meeting assessed the current security and intelligence landscape. Key topics included field deployment strategies, surveillance plans, and the intensification of efforts to combat drug trafficking. The meeting also focused on securing routes for pilgrims, assembly points, boarding stations, and water stations, with an emphasis on proactive measures to identify and mitigate potential threats.

The statement further elaborated on discussions regarding mechanisms for joint coordination with security agencies, judicial authorities, and service providers. These discussions aim to ensure the integration of security and intelligence efforts to successfully execute the plan designed to secure the pilgrimage, providing the highest levels of safety and security for the pilgrims.
