Baghdad: The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, affirmed his support for economic reforms aimed at streamlining government spending and directing it toward national priorities. He emphasized that improving services and advancing reconstruction and development projects are essential for achieving public satisfaction and strengthening political stability.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Hakim received the British Ambassador to Iraq, Irfan Siddiq, earlier today. The two discussed recent political developments in Iraq and the region, in addition to bilateral relations between Baghdad and London.

During the meeting, al-Hakim noted that Iraq’s current stability was achieved through the sacrifices of its people from various communities, following decades of dictatorship, wars, and terrorism. He stressed the importance of safeguarding this stability by reinforcing the country’s democratic process.

Al-Hakim also highlighted the significance of the upcoming elections as a pivotal step toward moving from fragile stability to sustainable stability. He called for “broad, effective, and informed” participation in the electoral process to help consolidate Iraq’s democratic political system.

He concluded by reiterating his support for economic reforms, particularly those aimed at streamlining public spending and focusing resources on priority sectors, describing such measures as key to strengthening citizens’ trust in the state and its institutions.
