Baghdad: Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the National State Forces Alliance, and Nouri al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, reiterated on Sunday their support for efforts to restrict the possession of weapons to the state through understanding and dialogue.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the media office of Sayyid Al-Hakim announced that “the head of the National State Forces Alliance, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakim, received the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, to discuss upcoming political milestones.”

Both sides reiterated their support for efforts to restrict the possession of weapons to the state through understanding and dialogue, while commending the role of the factions in defending Iraq and confronting terrorism.

Sayyid Al-Hakim also reaffirmed his support for the anti-corruption campaign, calling for its continuation, the targeting of major corruption cases, and the recovery of public funds, while emphasizing “the necessity of adopting government automation to thwart the theft of public money,” according to the statement.

The meeting underscored the importance of the Coordination Framework’s cohesion and unity. Sayyid Al-Hakim praised the efforts made to maintain stability and contribute to national decision-making, while both sides called for completing the government cabinet and selecting figures characterized by competence, integrity, and effective management.
