Suq Al-Shuyukh: The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, has urged the formation of a “tribal alliance” aimed at safeguarding projects within the Dhi Qar Governorate. During a meeting with numerous sheikhs and dignitaries from the governorate at the guest house of Sheikh Majid Al-Ajil Al-Hajami in Suq Al-Shuyukh District, al-Hakim emphasized the critical role tribes play in maintaining security across political, social, and security dimensions. He proposed the creation of a document, to be signed by the sheikhs of the Dhi Qar tribes, which would serve as a protective measure for projects and a disavowal of those who seek to target them. Al-Hakim believes this initiative would provide reassurance and motivation for companies and investors.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Hakim acknowledged the sacrifices made by the people of Dhi Qar in their historical struggle against dictatorship and in the rebuilding of Iraq. He highlighted their unwavering support of the religious authority, which has been pivotal in preserving Islam in Iraq. Al-Hakim praised the collaboration between the religious authority, Iraqi tribes, and Husseini rituals throughout Iraq’s history.
Al-Hakim also addressed the challenges Iraq has faced, including terrorism, specifically citing the Baath’s collusion with terrorist groups and the threat posed by ISIS. He credited the supreme religious authority’s fatwa for empowering Iraqis to counteract terrorism effectively. Additionally, he commended the efforts of Dhi Qar’s residents in supporting the religious rituals of Imam Hussein, notably the significant procession of Souq Al-Shuyukh.
Al-Hakim underscored the role of the religious authority in uniting all Iraqi components and promoting the humanitarian message of the Husseini rituals. He remarked on the global admiration for Iraq’s progress amid its challenges and highlighted the importance of sustaining project development and stability in Dhi Qar. He called for the recognition of achievements and the transformation of temporary stability into a lasting one, urging collective responsibility to achieve this goal.
Furthermore, al-Hakim highlighted the necessity of diversifying Iraq’s income sources beyond oil dependency. He advocated looking at international experiences to leverage foreign capital, which could accelerate economic growth and job creation. Ensuring a secure investment environment in Dhi Qar would attract companies, fostering both economic and political advancement due to the interconnected nature of these interests.
