Baghdad: Ammar al-Hakim, the head of the National State Forces Alliance, has expressed confidence in Iraq’s ability to overcome its current financial liquidity crisis due to the country’s abundant economic resources.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Hakim made these remarks during a meeting with Glenn Miles, the Australian Ambassador to Baghdad. The discussion highlighted the bilateral relations between Iraq and Australia, focusing on the cooperation between their people. Al-Hakim addressed the challenges plaguing Iraq, noting that while political and social challenges have been surmounted, the nation now grapples with an economic challenge spurred by regional events and declining exports.
Al-Hakim emphasized Iraq’s access to substantial economic resources, expressing optimism that the nation will navigate through the financial liquidity crisis, as it has with previous challenges. He underscored the importance of countries like Australia, advocating for an exchange of expertise, particularly in agriculture and irrigation technologies, to bolster Iraq’s economic resilience.
On the topic of regional tensions, al-Hakim called for a cessation of hostilities, stressing that de-escalation is crucial for both regional and global stability. He urged influential nations to take responsibility in fostering de-escalation and restoring stability to the region.
