Baghdad: Head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, received Aliza del Pulgar, the Spanish Ambassador to Iraq. A statement from his office indicated that the meeting included an exchange of views on the political developments in Iraq and the nature of bilateral relations between Baghdad and Madrid. Al-Hakim expressed his appreciation for Spain’s supportive stances towards Iraq and the just causes in the region.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Hakim pointed to the nature of the changes in Iraq, represented by the positive messages emanating from the recent elections, particularly the Iraqi people’s commitment to the democratic and electoral process and the principle of the peaceful transfer of power. He emphasized the importance of proceeding with constitutional requirements within their specified timeframes.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining Iraq’s relations with countries in the region and the world, calling for enhanced cooperation with the Kingdom of Spain and for both sides to capitalize on available opportunities to strengthen their political, economic, and cultural partnership.
