Baghdad: Head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, affirmed today that the election results carried clear messages reflecting the Iraqi people’s commitment to the democratic path. Al-Hakim’s office released a statement detailing his meeting with Nagaoka Kansuke, head of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the presence of the Japanese Ambassador to Baghdad, Akira Ando.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Hakim discussed the developments in the Iraqi political landscape following the recent parliamentary elections during the meeting. He affirmed that the election results demonstrated the Iraqi people’s commitment to democracy and their support for their political system. This was evident in the broad and active participation and the smooth and transparent conduct of the elections.

He emphasized Iraq’s progress towards achieving sustainable stability by building on positive developments and strengthening trust, while addressing economic and financial challenges with a realistic vision and strong capabilities. Al-Hakim also highlighted the importance of enhancing the presence of Japanese companies in Iraq’s reconstruction and development projects, taking advantage of promising opportunities across various sectors.

Al-Hakim noted the high regard in which Japanese companies are held by Iraqis, citing the distinguished historical relations between the two countries and the similarity of their experiences in development and reconstruction.
