Baghdad: The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, declared on Saturday that discussions surrounding the postponement of the elections “have no basis,” emphasizing that all political factions are dedicated to conducting them as scheduled.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from al-Hakim’s media office noted that during the regular meeting of the National Wisdom Movement’s Leadership Council, al-Hakim acknowledged the efforts made to ensure the success of significant religious events such as the Ashura season, the Arbaeen pilgrimage, and the commemoration of the Prophet’s passing. He expressed gratitude towards the sacred shrines, the government, and the Husseini processions and bodies for their services to the visitors of Imam Hussein from both within and outside Iraq.

The statement further mentioned that al-Hakim advocated for managing electoral competition responsibly and warned against the misuse of state resources for electoral purposes. He remarked that effective management of this competition could lead to a positive post-election period and help in meeting future obligations.

Reiterating his stance, al-Hakim stated that “there is no room for postponing the elections,” and encouraged citizens to engage widely, effectively, and conscientiously in the electoral process. He stressed the significance of reinforcing institutional structures within the Wisdom Movement and following the principles of moderation and centrism, which have maintained Iraq’s stability and hold the potential for achieving lasting stability.

Additionally, he emphasized the importance of maintaining a field presence and fostering a sense of optimism and positivity among the populace.
