Al-Halbousi and Turkish Intelligence Chief Discuss Extradition of Corruption Fugitives


Baghdad: Mohammed al-Halbousi and the head of Turkish intelligence stressed the importance of supporting the government’s efforts and extraditing fugitives outside Iraq accused of corruption. The head of the Progress Party, Mohammed al-Halbousi, and the head of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT), Ibrahim Kalin, emphasized the importance of supporting the efforts of the new Iraqi government to pursue and extradite fugitives wanted on corruption charges who are currently outside Iraq.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Halbousi’s office stated in a press release that “Al-Halbousi received Kalin and his accompanying delegation on Tuesday, and they discussed regional and international developments, as well as ways to enhance cooperation between Iraq and Turkey, particularly in the security and intelligence fields.”



The statement added, “During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of supporting the efforts of the new Iraqi government to pursue and extradite fugitives wanted on corruption charges who are currently outside Iraq, in addition to discussing a number of issues of mutual interest.”
