Al-Halbousi Calls for Dialogue Amid Regional Tensions in Meeting with US Diplomat

Baghdad: The Head of the Progress Party, Mohammed al-Halbousi, met with Stephen Fagin, the Charg© d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Iraq, to discuss recent regional developments and the importance of resolving issues through dialogue.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on the pressing and dangerous developments in the region, highlighting the necessity of seeking solutions through negotiations rather than force. Both parties stressed the importance of international efforts to promote negotiations and avert military escalations that could jeopardize regional security.

During the discussions, al-Halbousi reiterated Iraq’s steadfast position against war, declaring the country’s refusal to allow its territory and airspace to be used for attacks on neighboring nations. He underscored the importance of keeping Iraq out of armed conflicts and emphasized Iraq’s potential role in facilitating political dialogue and halting ongoing conflicts.
